Denise began her career with Reese Henry in 1984, becoming a partner in 1993. Prior to joining Reese Henry, Denise worked for a CPA firm in Alamosa, Colorado, where she gained valuable experience in accounting and auditing. Denise’s knowledge in these services is extensive, and thus she is Director of Accounting & Auditing Services at Reese Henry. In this capacity, she successfully counsels clients on numerous management and financial issues. She has vast expertise in organization governance, internal control procedure, income tax laws, and also as prospective changes in tax laws. Additionally, Denise holds an in-depth, comprehensive knowledge of IRS rules for not-for-profit organizations, common interest realty associations, and governmental organizations. By thoroughly listening to her clients’ specific needs, she offers guidance to her clients as they design their operational models, as well as their positions on controversial tax issues. 

Denise is a Colorado-native and a graduate of Colorado State in Fort Collins, where she earned a BS in Business Administration. She is also a member of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Why did you choose the Roaring Fork Valley?

“I chose the Roaring Fork Valley because I wanted to return to a place with immediate access to the mountains. I stay here because I enjoy the outdoor recreation and cultural opportunities that are available.”

 

What does living the “Aspen Idea” mean to you?

“To me, it’s about enjoying the outdoors and the many cultural events that we have here, as well as giving back to the community. I sit on several nonprofit boards: Aspen Santa Fe Ballet (20+ years), Spellbinders, Wheeler Opera House Association, and Thunder River Theater Company. Additionally, our staff volunteer at the annual Aspen Ski Swap, which I help coordinate.”

Why did you choose to join the team at Reese Henry?

“After spending two years in the San Luis Valley, I wanted to get back to the mountains. The work here is extremely rewarding, with a strong team approach. I really enjoy being able to help our clients.”
