Mark joined Reese Henry in 1982, becoming a partner in 1989. With over 40 years of financial audit and income tax experience, he is an invaluable resource to his clients. His expertise is widespread and includes tax compliance, IRS and state tax controversies, income tax planning, real estate, retail, restaurant, hospitality, construction, not-for-profit organizations, and owners’ associations. Additionally, Mark has worked with family groups, handling taxes and business consulting. He has served as trustee on family trusts, personal representative for estates, and occasionally, as an expert witness in court. Mark works with a large clientele of high-net-worth individuals and also focuses on estate planning, business consulting, auditing, and budgeting. His strengths also include working with various organizations, their governance, as well as their operational challenges.

Mark is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he received a BS in Business Administration. Additionally, he is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants. Mark started his career as an auditor and still performs audits throughout the year. Mark will happily tell you that he still gets a kick out of saving tax dollars for clients, and that he genuinely loves solving a tax problem.

Why did you choose the Roaring Fork Valley?

“It’s the same old story; I came for the skiing but I stayed because the work was much more interesting than what I’d been doing in the Midwest. (I also found the love of my life here!) People in Aspen are happier, more relaxed, and they have more interesting tax problems, both domestic and international. I’m grateful to be here instead of Detroit!”

What does living the “Aspen Idea” mean to you?

“Every day, I make sure to enjoy some quiet time outdoors. That could mean going for a hike, spending time with my family and pets, or just watching the snow fall. For fun, my number one side project is helping kids and giving them my all. I serve on the Board of Directors for Ross Montessori School and The Buddy Program.”

Why did you choose to join the team at Reese Henry?

“We care about the client's whole family: their children, their parents, and their friends. Our clients have stories that are amazing and inspirational, and their diverse passions make my work interesting. This drives us all to do our best.”
